ELDER ABUSE

 

COA's Elder Abuse Steering Committee leverages the expertise of its membership: social agency representatives, health care professionals, police services, and seniors.  Its current focus is on increasing awareness, establishing a co-ordinated response to elder abuse for the City of Ottawa, and developing a training program for police officers and other professionals who may encounter cases of elder abuse in their work.

COA's Health Issues Committee is dedicated to improving accessibility of health services for seniors.  Current undertakings include the development of an accessibility checklist to assess accessibility of doctors' offices, pharmacies, and other facilities used by seniors.
